I recently listened to these two series in audio-book format and was highly impressed with how well written both were. I also believe the trilogies had excellent narrators to voice the characters. Seriously, everything about these books just WORKED! The plot, the pacing, the world building, and the character development blend together to make the perfect 5-star recipes.
Why are these trilogies being reviewed together? What are their similarities and differences?
Even though the series have completely different plots, both center around the children of fallen angels. The authors take the stories in completely different directions though. Both are romances. The Sweet Trilogy is a very angsty, mature YA/NA romance, and The Irin Chronicles is an adult romantic series that transcends life and death.
I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed both writing styles and the main characters the authors created. I immediately clicked and connected with the characters. The heroines had distinct personalities and were very relatable. I could see myself in their shoes. The heroes were pretty dang attractive. Well, damn hot is more like it! I loved living in their fantastical world of good and evil. The battle of light versus dark has always been intriguing in literature.
The settings. The Irin Chronicles setting was awesome! It mainly takes place in Istanbul, Turkey which I just love because it is so exotic. Istanbul is a place where east meets west and ancient mixes with modern. The architecture and the landscape was so descriptive. The characters also travel to other parts of the world which was fun because the reader feels they are traveling too. The Sweet Trilogy mainly takes place in the North Georgia/Atlanta area which is really close to where I live. It was pretty cool to be familiar with the towns talked about in the book.
Once I started reading/listening to these book I couldn’t put them down. I was completely submerged. If you are a romance and/or fantasy/paranormal reader then these two trilogies are definitely worth giving a shot ASAP because I am kicking myself for waiting so long to start them.
