Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up—she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. So when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life suddenly seems almost too good to be true.
Ryle is assertive, stubborn, maybe even a little arrogant. He’s also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily. And the way he looks in scrubs certainly doesn’t hurt. Lily can’t get him out of her head. But Ryle’s complete aversion to relationships is disturbing. Even as Lily finds herself becoming the exception to his “no dating” rule, she can’t help but wonder what made him that way in the first place.
As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan—her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.
It Ends With Us has the power to change lives. I know that sounds crazy, but I’m super passionate about reading and this book is more than moving. Every now and then (and I mean every few years) a book will come along and touch your soul to it’s inner depths. I needed this story in my life and I didn’t even know it. IEWU touched me on such a personal level because some of the social issues that are broached are issues I have faced in my life. Millions of people across the globe are forced or decide to live in identical situations.
Enough with introspective crud. 🙂 Do you remember that emotionally sweet romance CoHo gave us with Slammed? Well, IEWU is nothing like that. Lol! This book is heavy, intense, and nothing like what she has written before. This novel will blow your mind. It has blown mine! Holy freakin’ crap! This is not what I expected at all. I am so glad I avoided spoilers beforehand. Can I give this book more than 5 stars? Because it deserves it. Hands down, the best novel of 2016!
I can guarantee IEWU doesn’t follow any romance novel formula you’ve read before. Totally unpredictable! It has suspense. I was seriously nervous while several scenes were playing out. Hell, is this even a romance? Definitely not a typical one, that’s for sure. It is most certainly a love story. It could be your neighbor’s love story or your sister’s or a classmate’s or a coworker’s… IEWU is for everyone because everyone can relate to the book’s message in one way or another.
One last thing before I wrap this review up. I just have to mention the authors note at the end of the book. Oh my gosh, you have to read it! I was able to keep my emotions together throughout, until her personal message to readers. Then the floodgates burst forth. Let’s just say…
my new life motto is:
“Just keep swimming.”
