For Matthew Rohan, every day is a struggle. Each task others complete without thinking is a challenge for him. Recently orphaned, he has to finish the last few months of high school and take care of his disabled sister on his own.
When Mayra comes into his life, his comfortable routines implode. Matthew can’t handle change, but Mayra is unrelenting in her quest to understand him, to show him acceptance and maybe even love. When she breaks through his shell, Matthew’s world will never be the same again.
An awkward boy with Asperger’s Syndrome, a persistent girl who pulls him out of his isolated existence, and a lottery ticket that will change their lives forever.
Win Some, Lose Some is one of the most endearing and humorous stories I have read in a while. It never ceases to amaze me how completely different each book is that comes from Shay Savage. This lady never sticks to a formula. However, her stories are always full of depth and thought-provoking.
As you probably gathered from the synopsis, WSLS is about a young man with high functioning Asperger’s. The author did a fantastic job researching the syndrome to make the character as authentic as possible. Poor Matthew. I fell completely in love with that boy, but his OCD and ticks wore me out just reading about it. I can’t imagine the real life struggle. I guarantee you, Matthew is going to steal your heart.
WSLS was just one of those books that gave me all the feels I’m looking for when reading a new adult romance. It made me laugh and cry and swoon. By the end my heart was full and joyous and sated because the journey of the two main characters was so emotional. WSLS is a sweet, delightful, and sexy book I won’t soon forget.
