Down the Shore Review – Down the Shore by T. Torreston April 21, 2015
two-half-stars

This is my first T. Torrest book, and I was super excited to read it because of all the amazing reviews I’ve seen for her Remember trilogy. While this one didn’t quite work for me overall, it definitely had it’s sexy, funny, and heartwarming moments.

Livia was a funny, open, and unapologetic heroine. She was a huge music fan, and an equally huge fan of no-strings-attached hook ups with musicians. And then, she meets Jack…. SWOON!

Jack, the crazy hot, sexy as hell musician is sick of the quick hook up lifestyle, and when he meets Livia, he knows that he’s ready to move on from his former ways. They instantly have a connection, and end up coming to an agreement — they will go on 10 dates before they have sex. As this is far from their usual norm, it isn’t easy, but it sure made for some hot, tension-filled sexual chemistry! Jack was crazy swoon-worthy, and it was fun being inside of Livia’s head as she tested out the no-sex waters as well.

I really enjoyed the first half of the book, but the second half is where it lost me, especially when Jack made the most ridiculous decision ever. I just couldn’t justify it in my mind at all, and what followed really frustrated me. Unfortunately, I never became invested in the story again after that.

I do have to mention that most of the 90’s references went over my head. While it would have been fun to be in on the jokes, I don’t feel like this took away from my reading experience at all. So while this wasn’t a complete winner for me personally, I think that if other readers can be more understanding of the things I had serious issues with (that crazy decision!!!), this could be an enjoyable read for sure.
