From the author of Forever, Interrupted—hailed by Sarah Jio as “moving, gorgeous, and at times heart-wrenching”—comes a breathtaking new novel about modern marriage, the depth of family ties, and the year that one remarkable heroine spends exploring both. When Lauren and Ryan’s marriage reaches the breaking point, they come up with an unconventional plan. They decide to take a year off in the hopes of finding a way to fall in love again. One year apart, and only one rule: they cannot contact each other. Aside from that, anything goes. Lauren embarks on a journey of self-discovery, quickly finding that her friends and family have their own ideas about the meaning of marriage. These influences, as well as her own healing process and the challenges of living apart from Ryan, begin to change Lauren’s ideas about monogamy and marriage. She starts to question: When you can have romance without loyalty and commitment without marriage, when love and lust are no longer tied together, what do you value? What are you willing to fight for? This is a love story about what happens when the love fades. It’s about staying in love, seizing love, forsaking love, and committing to love with everything you’ve got. And above all, After I Do is the story of a couple caught up in an old game—and searching for a new road to happily ever after.

I don’t normally read books like this. My taste in reading is changing and I am totally loving it!

After I Do is a story about what happens to Ryan and Lauren and the newness of dating and marriage wears off. The journey they go on is SO REAL!! The fights they had were the same exact thing my husband and I fight about. I feel this book shines a light on the realness and work every couple goes through, just to stay together. If you are married you already know this. But this is almost comforting, to me, knowing its not just me and my man, that go through rough patches. I laughed, I cried, I got pissed and most of all I LOVED!!!

I loved every single character in this story. This book is not only about the marriage, but the relationships with Lauren and her family. Her family was awesome! I adored Grandma and her brother. I am telling you, you will be connecting with all these characters. None of them are glamorous sexy buff people. They are just like you and me, normal people dealing with normal everyday issues.

This book made me realize to appreciate the small moments, and no matter what if your man wants sex…give him sex!! (LOL totally kidding)

I loved the authors writing she  has a great flow got me from page one! I will be reading her book Forever, Interrupted  very soon!

“The I love yous and I’m sorrys, the I’ll never do that agains and the I don’t know what I’d do without yous always eclipsed the thing we were fighting about in the first place.”

“But don’t you think that its something to strive for? To try to be happy the whole time? To try to not just grin and bear your marriage  but to thrive in it?”
