The emotional and unforgettable new romance from the New York Times bestselling author of the On Dublin Street series.

Alexa Holland’s father was her hero—until her shocking discovery that her mother and she weren’t his only family. Ever since, Alexa has worked to turn her life in a different direction and forge her own identity outside of his terrible secrets. But when she meets a man who’s as damaged by her father’s mistakes as she is, Alexa must help him.

Caine Carraway wants nothing to do with Alexa’s efforts at redemption, but it’s not so easy to push her away. Determined to make her hate him, he brings her to the edge of her patience and waits for her to walk away. But his actions only draw them together and, despite the odds, they begin an intense and explosive affair.

Only Caine knows he can never be the white knight that Alexa has always longed for. And when they’re on the precipice of danger, he finds he’ll do anything to protect either one of them from being hurt again....

Bethany’s Review

Gosh, Samantha Young’s writing style is really fantastic! The words flow so seamlessly. I feel like I begin reading one of her books and before I know it I’m already 20% complete. She really does keep her readers turning the pages.

“I fantasize about fucking you in this office a hundred times a day.”

I enjoyed this new standalone very much. I think of it as a naughty office romance with some twists. The main characters’ personalities jumped off the page. Lexie and Caine have some explosive sexual chemistry and the tension is through the roof. Oh my Lord, Caine is one sexy beast! That man is bossy and controlling and I liked it a lot. 🙂

“You really are the most stubborn woman I’ve ever met.” He moved his hips, bringing his erection back against my wet center. I sucked in a gasp of pleasure. “It makes me want to tame you with no hope of success.”

This book had some turns that surprised me which kept it interesting. However, what kept me from rating Hero 5 stars was the ending. It was not a bad ending, but it did wrap up super fast. There was a secret bombshell dropped and I wish the author would have dug deeper and explored it more. Hero is still a solid 4 star read, and I definitely recommend it for any Samantha Young fans or anyone looking for a straight-up stand alone romance novel.

Erin’s Review

Hero was a steamy surprise! Samantha Young is one of my go to authors. Her books and writing always deliver.

This book did not disappoint, but I enjoyed the first half more then the second. I think it was the Caine and his issues. It didn’t ruin the story, but was just kinda weird. I did love the supporting characters just as much as the main characters. I was never bored and kept turning the pages.

Alexa and Caine are connected from their families sad history. Alexa tells Caine who she is and let the push, pull sexual tension begin. Caine is off the charts hot and brooding. Alexa is funny and a normal girl just like all Samantha’s heroines. This is one of the major reasons I love her books is, I can always count on connecting with the heroines.

As always cant wait for more and more from this author. And for all of you readers who don’t want a cliffhanger or have to wait for a sequel, then this is for you because Hero is a standalone 😉 Happy reading!
