Where Have We Been?!

Where Have We Been?!

HELLO, Where in the hell have we been? LOL! To be honest I’ve been MIA from blogging. Bless Bethany’s heart she has been keeping us active on social media, but I cant tell you the last time I have blogged, posted or even logged into social media. RL has just totally consumed me. I think I have read like 3 or 4 books in the last 4 months. I started working 5 days a week and between that and being a mom, wife, moving to a new house, I just haven’t been in the mind set for any reviewing or pretty much “the book world” at all. Thats not to say I don’t miss it and all the awesome people. I just suck at time management. I hope to start getting my groove back slowly. I mean I cant even tell you the last time Ive read a 5 star […]

Is There a Lack of Racial Diversity in the Romance Genre?

Is There a Lack of Racial Diversity in the Romance Genre?

In my opinion, YES. A few months ago I seen a Nicholas Sparks meme floating around on Facebook. The meme had his book covers lined up, and each one showed white couples almost kissing. That got me thinking about the romance novels I’ve read and how often they featured a main character (specifically the hero of the story) that was non-caucasian. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m fine with a white hero. Heck, I’m white and I’m married to a white guy. But you know what? I’m attracted to men of other races as well, and I think other romance readers are too. Our country and our world is made up of many different cultures and ethnicities. I wish the books we read reflected that more. Most of the authors I read are female caucasian, so that makes me wonder if they are only writing what they know. Maybe they […]

KEEPIN’ IT REAL #3: Thank You Book World!

KEEPIN’ IT REAL #3: Thank You Book World!

Just a quick post to say thank you to all who were genuine, and supportive during these past couple months. For the past few months I have been helping take care of my mother in law while she fought cancer. She went through HELL for many years, and on this past Mother’s Day finally lost the battle 🙁 I was putting all my time and energy into her and our family. I haven’t been reading or reviewing books. My brain just could not focus on a story. I let my blogging/BFF girls know, and what happen next BLEW MY MIND! I started receiving messages, gifts, care packages and then some. My heart was so moved from the kindness and love, I was an emotional mess. I never could have imagined my love of reading, would bring me to meet such wonderful women. From the depths of my soul, I thank you! I’d also like […]

Keepin’ It Real #2

Keepin’ It Real #2

I wrote this blog post back in December and got busy with the holidays. So here are my thoughts on why I have backed out of most Facebook groups and Street team/author groups. Today I did something I have been meaning to do for sometime. I left almost every author Facebook group, I was in. This has nothing to do with the authors (at least not majority) but I have come to a point in my life where I felt stretched to thin. I have a young family, a job and the blog. I felt like I was wearing to many hats. Not being able to put all of my attention on one thing. It was affecting my family time and taking away from why Im really here, and thats my love of reading and getting lost in a book. I want to concentrate on my home life (obviously) and I want […]

Keepin’ It Real #1

Keepin’ It Real #1

We are trying out this new feature called KEEPIN IT REAL. Just gives us a chance to put some of our thoughts out there. We are finding we don’t want to be just a promotional/reviewing blog. We want it to be more personable. We love to talk books and all that goes on in the book world. Most of the time we stay far away from the crazy stuff. But there are topics we find we want to chat about or even just get it out there, so here we go… This post is a way of me being real with you. Ok…here it is. *deep breath*    *chug my blue moon* I am SUPER DUPER insecure about writing. I’ve always been. In school I hated English class. I would ace all my math classes, but could never get into finding my way in writing. Fast forward some years (how many […]
