Beloved #1 New York Times bestselling author Colleen Hoover returns with an unforgettable love story between a writer and his unexpected muse.

Fallon meets Ben, an aspiring novelist, the day of her scheduled cross-country move. Their untimely attraction leads them to spend Fallon’s last day in L.A. together, and her eventful life becomes the creative inspiration Ben has always sought for his novel. Over time and amidst the various relationships and tribulations of their own separate lives, they continue to meet on the same date every year. Until one day Fallon becomes unsure if Ben has been telling her the truth or fabricating a perfect reality for the sake of the ultimate plot twist.

“I missed you,” he says. “A lot. And screw it if I’m not supposed to admit that, but I tried the whole alpha-male thing for two seconds and I just can’t do it. So you don’t get alpha-Ben today. I’m sorry.”

I have to start this review with a little explanation. For some reason I haven’t read any of Colleen Hoover’s recent books. I lumped her in with 2 authors she would tour with and I didn’t like the direction they were going in. Why I questioned CoHo’s credibility is dumb because she is a fantastic writer.

That being said it was STUPID of me, because I follow Colleen on social media and I love all she shares with her fans. So, when I got the opportunity to review her newest novel, I let go of my judgey ways, and started November 9. What in Gods green earth was my problem? This author is so freaking talented! I was in it from start to finish. So, if you are like me and haven’t jumped on the CoHo bandwagon…hop on and enjoy this ride. You will be full of every feels, you could imagine.

Now that Ive got that off my chest here are my thoughts on November 9:

Fallon is one of us girls, though most of us haven’t suffered the physical scars she has, we all suffer from her insecurities and being stuck in our own heads, with them on a daily. There are so many New Adult heroines that I just want to slap the shit out of. I didn’t see her as immature or wishy washy lead character. She wasn’t perfect, but she was perfectly imperfect.

Ben had me in the palm of his hand from the first scene they meet. He is a writer and not like a boring snoozeville writer, he’s smart and funny and SEXY! The way CoHo ties in so much of our bookisms made this book so much more for me!

“Please don’t tell me you are one of the pretentious readers who judge people by the books they like.”

Fallon has always had it in her head to follow this advice her mother gave her, so she refuses to let any love in, until she is 23.  So they make a deal to meet every Nov 9th until then. They can’t talk or contact each other in any other way in the time in between. Oh the TORTURE, and OH THE ANGST!

“No combination of written words could ever do this moment justice.”

Sometimes I get a little bored with how books can be filled in with unnecessary in-between stories, but Colleen did this perfect. We don’t have to wait and suffer with them being apart. Each chapter starts with the following Nov 9th. They don’t really spend that many hours with each other, but what they go through over those years is true happiness, emotional heart break and one specific moment, was an absolute rips my guts out moment.

“I don’t want to be your first, Fallon. I want to be your last.”

The plot twist was outstanding! I was shocked and being shocked in this genre is hard to do lately! So make sure you have your big girl panties on for that 😉

“Why didn’t you tell me the foundation you taught me to stand on is made from quicksand?”

I really hope you all enjoy this love story as much as I did. I am a reborn CoHo fan and promise not to take that long of a break from her books again.

(Thanks to my friends I just bought her audio book for Maybe Someday) I hear its really good and a super sexy narrator 😉
