The Martian by Andy Weir on October 28th 2014 Buy on Amazon, Buy on Audible Goodreads Genres: Fiction, Science Fiction, Suspense Source: Audiobook Pages: 387 Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he’s sure he’ll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm forces his crew to evacuate the planet while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded on Mars’s surface, with no way to signal Earth that he’s alive. And even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone years before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, Mark won’t have time to starve to death. Armed with nothing but his ingenuity, his engineering skills–and a gallows sense of humor that proves to be his greatest source […]

Review: Kulti by Mariana Zapata

Review: Kulti by Mariana Zapata

Kulti by Mariana Zapata on March 20, 2015 Buy on Amazon, Buy on Audible Goodreads Source: ebook Pages: 495 “Trust me, I’ve wanted to punch you in the face a time or five.” When the man you worshipped as a kid becomes your coach, it’s supposed to be the greatest thing in the world. Keywords: supposed to. It didn’t take a week for twenty-seven-year-old Sal Casillas to wonder what she’d seen in the international soccer icon—why she’d ever had his posters on her wall, or ever envisioned marrying him and having super-playing soccer babies. Sal had long ago gotten over the worst non-break-up in the history of imaginary relationships with a man that hadn’t known she’d existed. So she isn’t prepared for this version of Reiner Kulti who shows up to her team’s season: a quiet, reclusive, shadow of the explosive, passionate man he’d once been. Nothing could have prepared her […]

Winners & Flops: All the Books I Read in November

Winners & Flops: All the Books I Read in November

Source: Audiobook, ebook I basically took off the entire month of November from reading ARCs and writing formal reviews with a couple of exceptions. I’m super surprised by how many books I could read in one month. It was so much fun reading/listening to book after book with basically no pause. And, reading so many different genres was also a blast. Thought I’d post a quick rundown and the rating I gave each one.  Mostly I listened to audiobooks using the Overdrive app with a few ebooks mixed in. Maybe you will find a book or two to add to your TBR. So, what books did I read?   Audiobooks: • The McCabe Trilogy by Maya Banks (Historical Romance) – 4.5/5 STARS! Ignore the cheesy covers because this series was the bomb diggity. Each book in the trilogy is a different McCabe brother’s love story. These guys a hot Scottish alphas! The […]
